[19/11/06] Internet Explorer 7
Several users have written in about problems they've encoutered with burst! after they installed Internet Explorer 7 on their machines. At this point, if you want to keep using burst, hold off on the upgrade.
[29/10/06] Server downtime
When I upgraded my wireless router, the port mapping for this webserver did not get restored correctly, and it took me a few days to notice. Sorry about that.
[14/4/06] "Hurricane" core released.
burst! has been around for 4 years now, in one form or another. Did you know it's original name was BTSeeder, and it was born as a seeding-specific client?

Anyway, to celebrate the occasion .. it was time for an update! A new section has been added to this site: Cores!

This section includes an explanation of the Profile system, as well as downloads and install instructions for the download cores you can use with burst v3.x

I have posted the first beta of a burst! core based on BitTornado v0.3.15; I call it, "Hurricane!".

Please visit the Cores page for download and install instructions and contact me if you have any issues.

PS: My house is under construction right now, we're finishing the basement. Unfortunately, the server hosting this website is down there, and the contractors like to unplug it whenever they feel like. Service may be intermittent the next few weeks.
[8/5/05] Server Problems
As a number of you had already noticed, this website has been down the past few days. The machine hosting it had been having some troubles lately (slowdowns and very high load averages), and finally died on Thursday night with a primary hard disk failure.

As a result, instead of being able to get some work done, I've been forced to bring the machine back up and restore what I had from the last backup (July 10th .. not too bad actually).

A release is coming.. have patience.
[6/25/05] How the time flies..
Well.. 6 months have passed.

I'm done school for now, exams were good to me ;) on a full-time 16-month internship right now, so I have some spare time.

People on the mailing list (to join, scroll down to the bottom of this page) should expect to see a new version in their mailbox in the near future :)
[12/12/04] Exams, Holidays
Good news: New Server seems to be holding up great.
Bad news: I'm in the middle of final exams.

Everybody knows you only really get things you want to work on done when there are things you don't want to do that you should be doing. Changelog:
- fixed errors not being cleared correctly sometimes
- changed "Unlimited" to "Unltd" to prevent filling up line
- added option to generate BT3.4.2 mainline peerids (for trackers that require it)
Download the burst! v1.1.4 core, close down burst! (answer Yes when asked to resume), unpack to C:\Program Files\burst!\ and then open burst! back up. If all went well, it will auto-resume all your transfers with the upgraded core.
[10/26/04] Server troubles
Load testing of new server is in effect. Let me know if anything around here acts weird.
[10/14/04] Server troubles
The server that hosts this website has been having some hardware difficulties resulting in lots of downtime over the past few days (the secondary HDD is dying, and one of my NICs is acting up). Unfortunately, I'm far too busy to do much of anything about it (other then disable the secondary HDD and hope for the best). If you wish to help out, please donate.

[09/25/04] Possible SuprNova fix
A fellow burst! user by the name of Chris has sent along the following suggestion to those experiencing problems downloading from SuprNova:
I've found a solution that I think works. OK try this:

1) Open up a window in Windows (e.g. "My Documents").
2) Click Tools > Folder Options.
3) Then click the File Types tab and wait for it to complie a list.
4) Scroll down until you find :-
Extension = TORRENT
File Tpes = TORRENT File.
5) Highlight this by clicking it once and then select Advanced.
6) A new window will open. In this make sure the box marked Confirm open after download is ticked.
7) Click OK to close the window and then close the other window.

I tried this and it seems to have worked for me.

This has worked for several people.

Chris
[09/21/04] SuprNova is giving out bad torrents.
Lots of people have e-mailed telling me they're getting "Error: Error parsing file; does not appear to be valid bencoded metainfo" messages when trying to open torrents from SuprNova. It means SuprNova has rejected your download. To read the full message, open up the .torrent file in Notepad, Wordpad, or Microsoft Word.

And STOP E-MAILING ME ABOUT IT.
